At Timber Trails, girls are encouraged to explore their environment, build relationships, and to develop the leadership qualities allowing the potential for personal growth.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Our diverse staff enhances the camp experience by bringing creative ideas and a fresh outlook to camp to share with all of our girls. Timber Trails is tucked away in the beautiful hills of the Berkshire Mountains just over the Connecticut border on nearly 500 acres of land with a picturesque lake serving as our waterfront for boating and swimming. This hidden gem allows girls to try new activities as their skills progress, from boating and swimming, to our ropes course and outdoor living skills.

Girls are separated in to living units based on grades they will be going into for the Fall 2017 school year. Each unit has multiple groups and counselors and a unit leader. Girls sleep in wood-framed rustic cabins with no electricity. Each cabin houses five to eight cots. There’s a centralized washstand with running water and bathrooms in each unit. Girls shower in a centrally located bath house.

All girls welcomed - Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts!

For girls looking to gain new skills, the horseback riding programs at Timber Trails are designed for all levels of riders. On the first day, girls’ riding abilities are thoughtfully assessed and they are placed into riding groups that allow girls to work comfortably and confidently at their own pace. This helps them identify areas needing improvement and hone equestrian skills. Safety is always our first priority. Bad weather and excessive heat may shorten the time that the camper is actually on horseback. If that happens, they’ll work on other horse-related activities. Laurel and Timber Trails are inclusive equestrian programs – in the two hour sessions girls will learn horse and stable care which includes mucking stalls, feeding, grooming, and tacking horses. In between assigned riding rotations, girls work on equestrian theory.
