JOIN HUNDREDS OF YOUR FRIENDS AT FARM DAY ONE OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF GLASTONBURY’S BIGGEST ANNUAL EVENTS

In celebration of Glastonbury’s rich agricultural history, the Historical Society of Glastonbury is proud to once again present its annual Farm Day on Sunday, September 17th from 1:00pm-5:00pm at the Welles-Shipman-Ward House, 972 Main Street, South Glastonbury.

This fun-filled family day includes intriguing historic trade demonstrations such as weaving, dress making, a cobbler at work fashioning shoes and other colonial crafts.  Yes! You can participate!   Construct your own length of rope or try your hand with flower arranging using dried flowers grown onsite.  Visit our petting zoo and meet various farm animals, including horses, chickens, bunnies, and goats. Watch the kitchen garden’s vegetables and tobacco being harvested.  This is a great fun filled day for your children and grandchildren as well!  Games and activities include bobbing for apples, a contest to “guess the weight of the pumpkin”, sack races, checkers, stilts, ring toss, soap carving, bowling, a scavenger hunt, English and French (tug of war), and leap frog and MORE!  Enjoy tours of historic treasure-filled barns, sheds, and the 1755 Connecticut River Valley mansion, the Welles-Shipman-Ward house.  As an added treat, Big Bear Trading Company will be onsite with an array of goods for sale that would have been sold along the Connecticut River in colonial times.

Farm Day admission and activities are all FREE! General Parking is at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd. There is a path connecting the two properties at the rear of the parking lot.  Handicap parking is at the Welles-Shipman-Ward property.
