Musical Comedy "Road to Bali" starring Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Dorothy Lamour

Some Enchanted Evening comes Friday, August 26th to the Tobacco Shed at Wells-Shipman-Ward House when the Historical Society of Glastonbury presents its third annual "Flicks at the Shed" outdoor movie night. This year's event will transport  attendees to the sultry South Pacific with Tiki torches, little grass shacks, and a showing of the "Road to Bali." So grab your beach blankets, don your sarongs, pack you pupu platters, and join us for a light-hearted night of comedy and romance under the stars.

Released in 1952, it is the only one of the seven “road” pictures filmed in Technicolor and the first to feature cameo appearances by other well-known Hollywood stars of the era. In this one Bob and Bing are traveling vaudevillians forced to forsake Australia in favor of becoming deep-sea pearl divers in Indonesia.  “Road to Bali” is a whoopingly hilarious film, full of pure crazy situations and deliciously discourteous gags, all played with evident relish and split-second timing by the team" says Bosley Crowther, contemporary film critic of "The New York Times."  "Road to Bali" is the sixth of the seven musical comedy "road" pictures filmed for Paramount and starring Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Dorothy Lamour.

Movie running time is 91 minutes and begins at sunset (approximately 8:30pm). A suggested $10.00 donation is welcome.  You may reserve a spot in advance or just show up.  Rain date is Saturday, August 27th.  In the event of inclement weather, check our website or social media pages for event updates.
