Puppets as Tools for Education and Diversity

A master puppeteer in the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, Mariano Dolci illustrates the multiple ways children and educators can use puppets to communicate creatively.

A master puppeteer in the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, Mariano Dolci illustrates the multiple ways children and educators can use puppets to communicate creatively. Participants will hear from Mariano Dolci and Vito Minoia as they share stories of how puppets celebrate inclusion and diversity, and then attend a public puppet performance by Dolci. Following a break for lunch, participants will return to the Art Studio to construct their own paper puppets, with support from Dolci and Minoia. English translation by Lella Gandini.

 

Instructors include Mariano Dolci, expert puppeteer from the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy; Vito Minoia, Professor from the University of Urbino, Italy and Director of Theatre of Diversity Journal; and Lella Gandini, US Liaison for the schools of Reggio Emilia.
