If your family hasn't been to Robin Hood's Medieval Faire, this is the year to change that. Now in its 17th season at the Harwinton Fairgrounds, this New England favorite has expanded with a bigger footprint and an added weekend — six weekends of adventure running Saturdays and Sundays from May 16 through June 21.

The full-contact jousting alone is worth the trip — armored knights on horseback charging at each other with real impact. Between jousts, kids can watch a one-woman circus act, visit an interactive Viking encampment where warriors demonstrate sword fighting and archery, or catch roaming characters like the Rat Catcher wandering the lanes. Each themed weekend brings fresh performers and surprises, so repeat visits actually feel new.

The marketplace has over 80 vendors selling handcrafted goods you won't find anywhere else — leather armor, hand-forged ironwork, wooden swords and shields, stained glass, face painting, henna, and even a gem mine where kids can dig for their own stones. There are pony rides, a petting zoo, and a paint-your-own ceramics booth.

Food is affordable, with meal deals starting at $7 and turkey legs, BBQ, pierogis, boba tea, and soft serve all on site. The faire allows re-entry and permits outside food for dietary needs.

It's also pet-friendly — dogs, cats, rabbits, even lizards are welcome with a $5 pet admission. Get your tickets online or at the gate. This is the event your kids will talk about all year long.
