“If you want to see early automobiles, especially brass-era cars, the Klingberg event is the place to come.” These words from Wayne Carini spoken on an episode of Chasing Classic Cars describe our feature automobiles for June. Not only are these cars unique and rare, they tell the story of the beginning of the automobile industry.
A focus on family fun makes the event a wonderful way to celebrate Father’s Day weekend. A children’s activity area will include lawn games, face painting, Imagination Playground building blocks, and more. For the adults there will be food trucks, impromptu performances by the Dancing Duo, and vintage music. The Barnes Museum will display a portion of their collection of vintage hats. This rarely seen collection includes ladies’ and men’s hats from 1818-1973. The Klingberg History Museum will also be open during the event.
This event will also have a spotlight on Autism. In conjunction with Autism Families CONNECTicut we will bring awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder and share resources for families. There will be a special area of “touchable” cars for all children.
To add to the excitement, there will be a drawing for a door prize of a luxury vehicle from Hoffman Auto for a weekend. Stanley Black and Decker will have their marketing research team on campus looking for spectator input on product prototypes.
