The Salvation Army is registering children in the Greater Hartford area ages 8 to12 for its summer Youth Camp. Camp CONNRI is located on a beautiful 52-acre private lake surrounded by a 272-acre woodland site on Route 74 in Ashford, conveniently located between I-84 and Route 44. Greater Hartford’s Youth Camp at Camp CONNRI serves inner city youth and provides a 5 day, 4 night residential camping experience introducing the youth to fresh air, new skills and self reliance. Youth are given the opportunity to explore nature and interact with youth from other schools, towns and cultures. They receive three nutritious meals each day, along with snacks. Children participate in activities varying from arts and crafts, swimming, organized sports, campfire programs, petting zoo, and boating. Daily literacy-based activities are also incorporated and books are provided for campers. The camp provides a safe and structured environment for all participants. Greater Hartford’s Youth Camp is offered to children between the ages of 8 to 12 who reside in Hartford, East Hartford, Newington, Windsor, Bloomfield, Wethersfield, or West Hartford. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. The registration fee for camp is reduced thanks to funding from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and is between $30 and $50 per child based on family size and income.
