Teaching Artist: Remi Dalton

This camp is for those animal lovers with a creative mind. In this session campers will be introduced to the basics from how to handle the paint and its tools to introducing techniques. Campers will acquire painting skills combining elements of composition and color theory using acrylic paints. The objective of the class will be to paint the student's favorite animal.

Week 6: Adventures on Plastic: Animating with Cels
Dates: July 27 - July 30
Age Group: 12-15
Teaching Artist: Isabelle Aspin

In this session campers will experiment with animating and collaging on cels. Cels are sheets of transparent plastic that enable animators to layer drawing over backgrounds, creating complete images without computers. While cels techniques have been replaced by computers in the last 20 years, drawing and painting on cels connects us to the cartoons of the past, plus it's fun, relaxing, and leaves you with an awesome image! In this 4 day camp we will be covering animation basics, rotoscoping and some neat transparent collaging techniques. We'll also be watching some great animated classics that use cels to their fullest, spectacular potential.
