Join us for this Family Fishing Program for parents and children in grades K-8. This program is a 2 day event. Day 1, May 4 will be classroom instruction at the Avon Middle School. Day 2, May 9 will be a Field Day at Spring Lake in Fisher Meadows.
Anglers come out and learn the sport. Fishing license is not required for this event. Parents must register themselves and their children that will be attending. Children are free, but must be registered.
Lean overhead casting, rod and reel combo set up, attaching a hook, review of CT Angler's guide, identification of fish, natural baits and care of catch.
On Field Day, parents should bring snacks and/or lunch, beverages, sunscreen, baby wipes or towel, bug repellant, extra footwear and clothes. You should also bring a cooler with ice if you plan on keeping the fish. Parents also need to bring bait and rod and reels if you have them or you can borrow from the instructor.
