*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 06/11/2022
Join The Amistad Center for Art & Culture and the Wadsworth for Juneteenth Family Day. Juneteenth—the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States—is a recognition of June 19, 1865, when the enslaved in Galveston, Texas first learned of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Festivities include art-making, tours, performances, and free admission all day!
