Kate's Camp for Kids offers five one-week sessions for children ages 5-10! Each session runs Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm except on Fridays, the performance is at 1pm and dismisal is immediately after. Here are the dates and themes for each session:
Session 1: JULY 6-10: So You Wanna Be a Pirate?
This DIY show will give campers a chance to write their own sea-faring adventure and the songs to tell the tale! Learn to walk, talk, dance and sing like a pirate, then put on your original show on the stage of the Kate!
Session 2: JULY 13-17: Stone Soup
Based on the famous fable, Stone Soup. When a group of weary travelers creates a delicious meal from some unexpected ingredients, the gloomy citizens of Old Town ask, “Who ever heard of soup from a stone?” Campers learn that “the greatest gift is to share” with this character-building mini-musical.
Session 3: JULY 20-24: Pajama Party!
It’s time for bed – time to pick up our toys, take a bath time, brush our teeth and put our PJs on to end the day. But wait! What’s that noise I hear under my bed? Where’s my teddy bear? See how bedtime can really be a blast in this creative and cozy musical play.
Session 4: JULY 27-31: Fairy Tale Mashup
What if the Three Bears met Little Red Riding Hood as she was coming home from Rapunzel’s castle? Maybe Cinderella was a great soccer player and lost her cleat on the way home from the tournament? Or maybe Snow White’s friends were seven rock stars? Come to camp for this DIY week and rewrite a favorite story and the songs to go with it!
Session 5: AUGUST 3-7: SWAMPED!
The swamp is all a-buzz with party preparations galore! Naturally, the turtles are running late, and Bully the Frog is being a bully. The frogs have learned a new dance they want to share. The tadpoles are growing appendages (yikes!) and the dragonfly larvae need encouragement to spread their wings and fly. Lessons of friendship, tolerance, courage to face the future, and more, abound!
