LRWC Summer Camp Program: Environmental Engineer | Kids Out and About Hartford

LRWC Summer Camp Program: Environmental Engineer

This week campers will learn about the amazing engineers of the animal world! We will examine: how birds construct nests, why squirrels prefer dreys, how honeybees form hives, and much more! Each day campers will further their knowledge by building nature inspired creations like leaf sculptures, flower wind chimes, bird feeders, and bat houses.

LRWC Overview

This July, LRWC is offering five, week-long, day camp sessions for children entering grades 3 - 6 in the Fall of 2019.
LRWC Camp days are interactive, educational, and lots of fun! Get ready for exciting outdoor adventures where you'll learn about our birds, wetlands, and more. Each session includes outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, experiments, games, and crafts, and lots of interaction with our amazing flock of over 400 birds from around the world!

Quick Facts

All programs will involve hands-on learning and fun outdoor activities including meeting our captive flock, interacting with our Avian Ambassadors, delving into the Conservancy's wetlands, and exploring our aviaries. Camp sessions are Monday through Friday, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, and take place at the Conservancy, located at 55 Duck Pond Road, Litchfield CT 06759. The LRWC grounds encompass 16 scenic acres with lots to explore including ponds, natural wetlands, and the aviaries which house our flock. Be sure to bring a sack lunch (and a snack!) every day. Before and after care is available for an additional fee, please see our website for details.
