Small group, outdoor programming where kids will safely explore, discover and learn about the natural world. Camp programs will follow the policies and guidance specific to COVID-19 provided by the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood Education. Staffed by experienced teacher-naturalists and counselors experienced with working with children.

Hitting the Trail - Bike Camp I

Want to jump on your bike and ride for the week? This is your chance! After reviewing bike safety and learning basic bike maintenance, we will head out on the Airline Trail and other off-road locations averaging 10 to 15 miles per day. Depending on weather conditions and group dynamics, camp drop-off and pick–up locations will vary. Properly fitted MASK, bicycle, spare tube, helmet, back pack, non-perishable lunch and water bottles are a must!
 
 
LEGO® Wilderness Adventures

How does the world look when you are less than 2 inches tall? Fearless LEGO® mini figures will help us explore the trails from their unusual point of view. Prepare to get down and dirty to record LEGO® adventures by camera. Bring a camera, ipad, or cell phone that you can use to learn some basic photography skills and tell the story of your mini figure's camp adventure. You bring the camera, we provide the mini figures.
 
 
Field Study Skills

Spend this week on the trail, practicing your observation skills, witnessing natural events and using your senses to collect information. Build an amazing field journal as you test, photograph, question, examine, zoom in on, sketch, sort and have a blast discovering many different habitats. Connecticut Audubon's own Miss Frizzle, Marge Porter will lead the charge, exploring the 700 acre Bafflin Sanctuary and beyond.
 
 
Birds, Bugs and Bats: Wonders of the Sky

Day and night amazing creatures fly above us. Explore the wonders of these creatures including migration, hibernation, and metamorphosis. We'll wander the trails and fields in search of flying creatures to observe. Are they helpful or harmful? Let's find out!
 
 
Pedal Power - Bike Camp II

For more experienced cyclists, we’ll average 15 to 20 miles per day pedaling throughout northeastern CT. Routes will be primarily on dirt roads and trails. Drop off and pick up locations will vary throughout the week, depending on weather and group dynamics. Properly fitted MASK, bicycle, spare tube, helmet, back pack, non-perishable lunch and water bottles are a must!
 
 
Nature's Inventions: How Do They Do That?!

Ages 10 - 13
 
Can you walk on water? Fly in the wind? Protect yourself from danger? Build a shelter? Hide using camouflage? Communicate in code? Transfer the sun’s energy? Using a STEM approach, we will uncover nature’s inventions and try to mimic them in order to solve human problems. Working in teams and integrating clever engineering, we will invent useful devices with mother nature as inspiration.
