Planting for the Bees' Needs - Providing Habitat for a Diversity of Bees

Kim Stoner is an entomologist who specializes in bees and pollination at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.  She will introduce you to the world of native bees in your backyard and the easy things that you can do to conserve them.

Hosted by the Connecticut Community Foundation, Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills is a 36-hour online community giving event that encourages donors to lend their support to the nonprofit organizations that work every day to make our community stronger.

Every dollar donated to the Conservation Center from 7 a.m. on April 21st to 7 p.m. on April 22nd will help defray the cost of the 39th Annual Family Nature Day on September 26, 2020! Your donations will be stretched with bonus funds provided by the Connecticut Community Foundation and generous Give Local sponsors. We are also eligible to win amazing cash prizes during the event!

 

The Covid ~ 19 pandemic has greatly hurt so many. All of our programming resources evaporated. We hope that you will consider even a small donation to The Conservation Center. After all…from little acorns grow mighty oaks!

Virtual Spring Wildflower EcoTour with James Fischer

Spring wildflowers are blooming as temperatures warm and spring rain rolls in. This presentation will review the wildflower species that will be blooming from late-April to early-May. Our EcoTour will range from uplands to lowlands and from warm to cool microclimates. Nature’s Nursery: Cats! via Facebook Live
Join us for a special program designed for young nature lovers aged 3-6 years old. Education Director Carrie Szwed will read “What Cat is That?” from The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library, followed by a meet-and-greet with Carrie’s own tabby cat.
