Where you learn to dance with STYLE!

Class Descriptions & Requirements

Absolutely no jeans or street clothes are permitted of any kind. Furthermore, no jewelry should be worn in class. Please note that sofe style shorts are NOT permitted unless a leotard is worn.  Shorts worn without a leotard must be spandex or dance booty shorts ONLY.

Ballet: 
Ballet education begins with mastering the placement of the body, legs and arms. Beginner students work towards developing technique and coordination. As students advance, classes become increasingly complex in terms of the development of strength, stability and grace.

Attire: Any color leotard and tights that your child desires. Dancers enrolled in level 3 and 4 must wear a black leotard and pink tights.  All dancers must have their hair in either a bun or pony tail. For students ages 3-6 pink leather 1 sole ballet slippers are required.  And students 7 and older are required to have capezio Daisy ballet slippers.

Pointe: 
The strongest ballet students may advance to the next level of training - pointe. Students must be individually assessed or been given premission by the director to be considered for pointe work. All pointe students are required to take the ballet class prior to thier proper level pointe class.  Please note Pointe 2 will not be in the recital.

Attire: This is the same as ballet classes.  Pointe shoes must be approved by the instructor first before ribbons and elastics are sewn on. 

Tap: 
This dance form involves rhythmic sounds that are created by the feet to teach the students rhythm, timing, and balance.  Tap helps train the ear to hear different musical patterns and fine tunes a dancers musicality.

Attire: For ages 3-10 any color leotard and tights that your child desires, they may also wear booty shorts and dance pants.  For ages 11 and up dancers are permitted to wear fitted camis, dance pants, dance capris, as well as dance shorts.  See specific shoe requirements upon class registration.

Hip Hop: 
This dance form focuses on the current “street style” of dance. The dancer will learn high energy routines demonstrating style and rhythm.  Dancers will work on isoloations and fondation work such as gliding, pop and lock and freezes.

Attire: For all ages dancers are to wear comfortable warm up style clothing that is not excessively baggy.  Absolutely no baggy tee shirts are permitted or hats.  Dance sneakers are a must, NO socks or barefeet!

Fusion:
A blend of hip hop street style and contemporary.  There are no distinct rules, instead the 
class focuses on free movement to music which encourages students to learn more about how their body moves. This class is not appropriate for the beginner dancers.

Attire: For students ages 13 and older any color leotard along with booty shorts (with tights), no pants or capris of any kind!  We ask that students wear tan foot undeez by Capezio and keep their hair in a ponytail or bun.

Jazz:
 Jazz, a form of dance technique with roots in classical ballet. Throughout all levels of jazz, students focus upon proper body alignment and conditioning. The style of dance commonly referred to as jazz can be characterized by isolations, quick body movements and complicated rhythms. 

Attire: For all students any color leotard and tights may be worn. Also, students are permitted to wear jazz pants, booty shorts, and fitted dance capris. We ask that students keep their hair in a pony tail or bun.  Dancers should have the proper shoes appropiate to thier level.  NO socks are to be worn instead of shoes.

Contemporary:
It uses all types of movements, from stylized to pedestrian. Some dance elements visible in contemporary dance include modern, ballet, jazz, and world dance forms. Movement images, ideas, 
and emotions are set to a variety of sounds, from music to spoken word to the richness of silence

Attire: For students ages 13 and older any color leotard along with booty shorts (with tights), no pants or capris of any kind!  We ask that students wear tan foot undeez by Capezio and keep their hair in a ponytail or bun.

Lyrical: 
Lyrical is an expressive yet technically challenging form of dance that combines ballet, jazz and modern dance styles. It involves an in-depth emotional performance by the dancer. Usually inspired by slow music, this expressive dance form is a growing trend in dance today.

Attire: For students ages 10 and older any color leotard and jazz pants may be worn, along with booty shorts (with tights). We ask that students wear tan foot undeez by Capezio  and keep their hair in a ponytail or bun.

Tap/Ballet/ Hip Hop ages 3-4: 
This combination class is designed to inspire your child in numerous forms of dance.  Class will be broken down into segments so the dancers get to experience the styles of tap,ballet and hip hop.  The hip hop portion of the class will not be in the recital. 

Attire: Students are to wear any leotard or dance style outfit of thier choice with tights.  No street clothes are permitted.  Dancers are to have pink leather ballet shoes and black patent leather tap shoes.  Please replace the tie with a black elastic.  All students must have thier hair pulled back.


Little Feet This program is for children ages 2-3 years of age and is 30 minutes in length.  The class will explore various qualities of movement, work on rhythms through instruments and songs, as well as explore movement and dance through imagery.  This class will run for 8 weeks with a fall session, winter session, and a sprind session.  At the end of each session there will be an in studio showcase on the last class where family and friends can attend an watch what the class has learned.  The cost for this class is $100.00 per session.
 
Attire: Students are to wear and dance style outfit or comfortable clothes.  Dancer should be barefoot or have ballet slippers.  No socks or Street shoes permitted.
