The first museum in the country with a singular focus on American art, the New Britain Museum of American Art is an inspiring, educational, and creative place to bring your family!
Enjoy performances and artmaking at our monthly free Access for All Community Days, create your own art in our Saturday morning children's classes or special Homeschool Days, and spend time in our kid-friendly Art & Book Nook or Makerspace—free to use with Museum admission!
Spanning four centuries of American history, the Museum’s permanent collection is renowned for its strengths in colonial portraiture, the Hudson River School, American Impressionism, the Ash Can School, as well as the important mural series "The Arts of Life in America" by Thomas Hart Benton. With rotating special exhibitions, there's always something new to see during your visit!
